JHS Consulting

My consulting business combines so many things I'm passionate about – marketing, communications, project management, and client relations. From editorial and research services to consulting for new businesses, I've helped companies put their best foot forward and highlight what makes them stand out in a crowd. I've created websites for therapists, designed relationship-building workshops for social workers, coached working mothers looking for a career change, and even booked gigs and handled promotion for local musicians! I love that each project is so unique and I enjoy immersing myself in the details that help me showcase what my clients do best. I've earned a reputation as a dedicated team member who always goes the extra mile, and I look forward to bringing my expertise to your project, whatever the size or scope.

Past Experience

Working as a marketing coordinator for a public television program distributor early in my career sparked a life-long attention to detail. Later, in my years as a production editor with an internationally recognized technical publishing house, I managed the production process from manuscript to bound book, conducting detailed editorial passes with careful preservation of the author’s voice. In this role, I learned to balance multiple projects with tight deadlines and drew on my background in psychology and relationship building to connect with authors and earn their trust and respect as I helped them publish their work.

The publishing field led to two decades in business management for the architecture and engineering industry. Over the years, I’ve supervised production teams, mentored younger staff, and created best-selling research products. For the past 15 years, I've managed a multifaceted survey program that provides crucial data for the firm’s publications, events, and advisory services. From collecting and analyzing data to compiling, editing, and proofreading 500-page benchmarking reports and tools, I’ve been instrumental in creating the top-notch products thousands of industry clients rely on to make vital business decisions. The company's entrepreneurial culture enabled me to have my hands in many different facets of the business beyond my publishing roots – including strategic planning, new product innovation, website and content management, marketing and design, sales, customer outreach initiatives, and much more. In my tenure as Managing Editor, I’ve earned the trust of top clients from the industry’s most successful firms. The long-term relationships I’ve developed with hundreds of clients, survey participants, customers, and colleagues have been among the most rewarding aspects of the role.

From former supervisors and directors ...
I would go so far as to say that anyone who does not jump at the chance to hire Jill is missing out on a team member who will inevitably become a valuable asset.
